I'm considering or currently have an electric vehicle. Does that affect my Sunscription?
If you are thinking of getting an electric vehicle (EV), it makes sense to increase your share in the Solar Garden. If you already have an electric vehicle but aren't sure if your share is sized to accommodate your EV, we are happy to look into the current size of your Sunscription and make adjustments if there is capacity in your Solar Garden.
Since your share in the Solar Garden is related to the number of Solar Cedits you receive each month, you maximize your savings when your allocation - or the number of solar panels assigned to your share- reflects the amount of energy you use at your home. So, if you buy an electric vehicle or have something else that causes a significant change in the electricity you consume at your home, making adjustments to your Sunscription size may be a good fit for you.
On average, an EV uses around 30 kWh to travel 100 miles. According to the Department of Transportation, the average person drove 14,263 miles per year in 2019. That means, if own an electric car, you could add an additional 4,280kWh to your share in the Solar Garden!
