How do I add someone as an authorized user on my Xcel Energy account?
What is an Xcel Energy authorized user and why does it matter for my Sunscription?
A US Solar team member may request that you add a partner or family member as an authorized user on your Xcel Energy account in order to activate your Sunscription account. According to Xcel Energy's website, "authorized users (i.e. spouse, roommate, or business colleague) can view, pay, or make changes on an account based on their permission levels." The reason this matters for your Sunscription account is because, in order for us to activate your Sunscription account, the individual who signs an agreement with US Solar must also be listed as an authorized user on the Xcel Energy account.
How do I add someone as an authorized user on my Xcel Energy account?
With the updates made to Xcel Energy's website in March of 2022, it's now possible for you to add an authorized user to your account online by logging into your
Xcel Energy My Account.
To add an authorized user to your account, follow the steps below:
- First, have your partner or family member create an Xcel Energy My Account profile by going to my.xcelenergy.com/MyAccount and clicking Register. They will follow the prompts to set up an email and password, verify their email, and log in to their account.
- Once your partner or family member has logged in, they will need to request access to your existing Xcel Energy account. First, have them click View Billing Accounts, then Link an Account, and enter in the required information. They will need the Xcel Energy Account Number, the last name, and billing zip code associated with the account. When finished, click Request Access.
- Next, you will need to find the email from Xcel Energy in your email inbox and grant access to your partner or family member. Click the link in the email and follow the prompts on Xcel Energy's website. Any "Access Level" will work for the purposes of your Sunscription.
